VOLCOM STONE

PRINT ANNUAL REPORT

When designing a mock Volcom annual report, we researched what the Volcom company represented. Volcom design clothes for surfing, snowboarding and skateboarding. With these sports in mind, a layout style with a wild side was designed. The unique typefaces  "monoalphabet"  and "sidewalk" were used. Imagery was given a collage technique, where images of the Volcom sports and athletes are used throughout the spreads. Using the collage process isn't normally seen in annual reports, therefore going "against the norm". This concept statement is also a play on the Volcom company slogan, which is "youth against establishment".

FUSION MAGAZINE

PRINT MAGAZINE / IDENTITY / LAYOUT / ART DIRECTION

All articles featured in the magazine were re-designed, using new typography, imagery and layout. The typeface used throughout the is Engel. Engel is a sleek sans serif, with a unique squary quality, allowing the body copy to flow smoothly, and all article titles to stand out by using different text weight or color.

All photographs featured in the beauty and fashion section are original. Using a photographer and model allowed the designer to art direct the photo shoots.

Fusion magazine is a fictional up and coming magazine with a distinct look and design within. Each article has a different look, but the use of the Engel typeface and white space unifies the magazine as one.

OPERA PROGRAM

PRINT BROCHURE / PHOTO EDITING / LAYOUT DESIGN

Instead of designing a traditional brochure, the focus is on the tragic elements that are within each opera. The dark colors bring about a depressing tne to the spreads. There is more than one image used for the main photo, creating a layered effect. Each image used reflects the different aspects that happen throughout the plays. Beside the main photo, there is an image of the actual stage production, allowing the audience a glance at the stage production.

The typography is clean and simple, allowing the main focus to be the imagery. The pull quotes that are used are lines from the play that coincide with the main image on the spread.
